Extension of the biggest Czech drying enterprise

Extension of the biggest Czech drying enterprise

Since 2002, the most powerful maize drier all over the Czech Republic has been standing in the small Moravian village Hosteradice near the town Znojmo - a STELA MDB-TN 3/12. At the beginning, the customer Agroservis handled 40 000 t of maize a year. The company expanded rapidly not least because of the high efficiency of this machine; consequently, the plant had to be enlarged already in 2007. A STELA temper-cooler unit was installed downstream the drier for further energy saving.
The functional principle of the temper-cooler unit is based on the fact that the heated maize grains coming out of the drier column exude a certain percentage of moisture during intermediate storage in the store tanks. Thus, the through-put time in the drier column can be reduced and the hourly output increased. Then the product is cooled down in the cooling elements so far that it can be stored in silos without problems. Now the company is able to dry up to 80 000 t of maize in one season in the most energy-saving way.

This functioning cooperation of the companies STELA Laxhuber GmbH with their Czech partner Pawlica s.r.o. and Agroservis Visnove now has lead to more than doubling of the total annual capacity up to 180 000 tons by installing a further drier-temper-cooler combination in 2010. This growth also meets the further development for years.

The combination installed now consists of a double-column drying plant MDB-XN 2/17-SU with modern heat recovery by a circulating air system (functional principle see drawing 1) as well as of a double-column temper-cooler unit. Powerful exhaust air fans remove rapidly the highly saturated drying air in the upper drying elements. Below in the drier column, where the air is not saturated to such a high degree because of advanced drying of the product, the drier is operated in the energy-saving circulating air mode.

Mixing of the hot circulating air with the freshly sucked-in supply air, which is heated up by a powerful gas line burner, is realized by means of a certain formation of the air ducts. Several temperature sensors, which generate the data for burner control, are installed in the upper third of the hot air cap to guarantee that the burner always provides the preselected hot air temperature. To reduce the risk of fire, the exhaust air fans are equipped with flow controllers and the hot air cap with a safety thermostat, which stop the burner in case of breakdown of the fans respectively in case the hot air temperature is too high.

The energy-efficient design of the drier is continued consequently by means of a complete heat insulation of the drier column as well as of the hot air, circulating air and exhaust air ducts.

STELA wish Agroservis Visnove many success for the future and are looking forward to the further cooperation.
